Red Marble Shell

Elliot Purse (b. 1989, Chicago) is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His meticulously crafted paintings and drawings fuse traditional techniques and motifs with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
Working in episodic series, Purse explores themes of classicism, masculinity, and sports entertainment in American culture. Purse earned his MFA from The New York Academy of Art and BFA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Recently his work has been featured in exhibitions at The Norton Museum of Contemporary Art, West Palm Beach, FL; The Flag Art Foundation New York, NY; Galerie Gerhard Hofland, Amsterdam, NL; and Spring Break Art Show New York, NY / Los Angeles, CA; among others.
